Obi Agwam was born in Lagos and moved to Jamaica, Queens, at an early age. Agwam is a recent graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, and has exhibited his work at galleries in New York and California, as well as in Rome. His art focuses on Black figures and narratives presented in vibrant colors and fantastical anthropomorphisms, engaging with his thematic content through an amalgam of both personal and cultural motifs. At the heart of Agwam's practice is a commitment to the telling of Black stories and the support of Black art and artists.
