Johannes Högbom

Born 1994 in Dalarna, Sweden

Born in 1994 in Dalarna, Sweden, Johannes Högbom attended Örebro Konstskola, Sweden, in 2019 and earned his BFA from the Trondheim Academy of Fine Arts, Norway, in 2022. He has exhibited in shows in Sweden, Norway, and New York. Högbom creates works that reference the European painting traditions of figure and still life, especially naturalistic subjects of dead or dying flora and fauna. Much of his work has an air of somber tranquility. Often zoomed in and closely cropped, and painted in unsaturated tones Högbom crafts scenes of uneasy quietude that provoke introspection.
