Lives and works in Chicago, IL

Chicago based artist Ella Rose Flood was born in Los Angeles in 1999 and earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2021. She has exhibited throughout Chicago, as well as a two person show in Italy and an upcoming solo exhibition in New York City. Flood utilizzes a consitent matte finish to great effect, creating paintings imbued with a deeply dreamlike air of ambiguity. In some cases the images themselves are hazy and warped beyond specificity, but in many more they are clear and crisp, yet in their stark figurative objectivity become even more uncanny and unreal. These paintings freeze a moment not in time but in Flood's own imagination, informed by the intermixing of personal memory and shared cultural consciousness.
